Following the release of the final trailer for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu at CinemaCon 2026 content creators were able to reveal more details about their recent trip to the set of the film that took place a few weeks back. In these videos and photos that got shared online we got our first look at a live action version of Rotta the Hutt as a baby. Does this mean we’ll see a flashback to the Clone Wars?

Given we see Rotta as an adult in The Mandalorian and Grogu it’s absolutely not out of the question. I do find myself struggling to understand the context for a Clone Wars flashback in a film about The Mandalorian and Grogu taking out Imperial Remnant bosses though. So perhaps not? Having said that, we do see the twin Hutt cousins of Jabba first seen in The Book of Boba Fett, so perhaps there’s a flashback scene with baby Rotta?

Seeing Baby Rotta along with all of the other props may not necessarily mean it made it into the film however as it was featured in a set tour that featured props from the entirety of the MandoVerse. We’ve heard rumours around the fact that Ahsoka Season 2 will include more Clone Wars flashbacks, so assuming this comes to fruition then I’d say there’s a high chance Rotta will appear in Ahsoka Season 2, which could therefore build on from the The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Personally, I think it could work in either The Mandalorian and Grogu or Ahsoka Season 2 or both? Probably more sense in Ahsoka Season 2 with Clone Wars flashbacks but we’ll find out in 5 weeks time!
