With Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord just over halfway through its running, the Empire beginning to make their presence felt ever more across Janix and the galaxy, I thought it fitting to begin my ‘Top 3 Most Wanted Collectibles’ series with the show, and what better collectible to kick things off than Hot Toys.

Honourable Mention

Naturally, you would think number 1 would be Maul himself. However, Hot Toys released a teaser yesterday of a new Maul figure which can be assumed as a Maul – Shadow Lord version of the titular character.

So, who is making number 1 in my top 3 I hear you ask? None other than Maul’s apprentice-to-be, one would surmise, Devon Izara. Devon has been a standout character so far in the show, balancing the words of Maul and her Jedi Master, Eeko-Dio Daki as she struggles to decide which path is the correct one to follow. It will be exciting to see how her journey unfolds in these final 4 episodes now that The First Brother, Marrok, has informed his ‘Lord’ of their ‘alliance’ with Maul. A Hasbro Black Series figure has already been revealed for Devon, so I would love to see her enhanced to the 1/6th scale of a Hot Toy figure.

Number 2 follows on nicely from Devon and is everyone’s new favourite lizard Jedi, Master Eeko-Dio Daki (sorry Coleman). It’s clear that Eeko-Dio is a wise Jedi and would have made a great council member one day, had the Jedi Order not fallen foul of the genocidal scourge of the Sith. Master Daki would be a great addition to the Hot Toys line alongside Maul & Devon, especially if you wish you recreate scenes between the Trio, such as their brilliant dual in Chapter 4: Pride and Vengeance. Or you could simply display them, with Devon in between Maul & Daki to emphasise Devon’s struggle between the light of her master, and the pull to the darkness of Maul.

To round off this Top 3, it would be criminal of me for it to not be Captain Brander Lawson, another standout character of the show. Brander’s arc in the story so far has seen him go on quite the journey from nearly falling foul of Maul’s blade, to switching off his partner Two-Boots, and harbouring fugitive Jedi and going on the run with them, to mention a few key moments from the first 6 episodes. Brander’s addition to the line would make perfect sense to go alongside the other 3 characters mentioned given how much of a role he plays in the show so far.

To conclude, this Top 3 feels like the most natural of choices to add to the Maul – Shadow Lord Hot Toys line when it kicks off with the full reveal of Maul. Let me know in the comments who you would like to see in hyper-realistic 1/6th scale form.
