Star Wars: Deadeye Duels Update #2

Star Wars: Deadeye Duels Tatooine Map

In my last update on Star Wars: Deadeye Duels I spoke about the class system and how progression is going to work. Well, I’ve changed it completely. As a newbie to UEFN and not well versed in coding, I couldn’t get the Verse code to work as intended after significant tweaks and overhauls. So I’m changing the progression into an item shop system instead, which means classes are no more. I’ve also made the map smaller, because outside the playing space was rather large.

Classes gone, Item Shop in!

Whilst I found the class idea fun and had plans for progression, I now find myself relieved as I believe it would have been quite limiting to players in terms of choice.

Initially, I wanted this game to be snipers only, which limits you to only a couple of weapons. Now I’ve changed my stance, so I’ll be looking to add every single Star Wars weapon into the game.

Each weapon will have an allocated cost for initial purchase. Upon purchasing your weapon, it will go into your inventory and can also be found in your item vault. This allows players to change their loadout as and when they like during a game. With each item having a fixed cost for initial purchase, I will look at adding weapon upgrades for each weapon as well, which will grow in price for each tier. For example:

  • A280-CFE – 1,000 Credits
  • A280-CFE T2 Upgrade – 500 Credits
  • A280-CFE T3 – 750 Credits
  • A280-CFE T4 – 1000 Credits
  • A280-CFE T5 – 1,500 Credits
Earning Credits

To purchase your weapons, consumables and upgrades, you’ll need to earn credits. You earn simply by playing. Credits will be distributed by winning games, losing games and by getting kills. An example is below but please note that these are not final!

  • Winning a match – 100 Credits
  • Losing a match – 50 Credits
  • Per elimination – 10 Credits

Hoth Pre-Game lobby for Star Wars: Deadeye Duels, my Star Wars Fortnite game

Work on the Pre-Game lobby has begun, starting with this little Hoth inspired room. My plan is to build out a pre-game area filled with different locations inspired by the Star Wars Saga.

Release Date

My goal for Star Wars: Deadeye Duels was always to release this on May 1st alongside all of the other Star Wars experiences, but that unfortunately is not realistic anymore. I absolutely could release something on May 1st with absolutely zero issues, the game just isn’t in a position that I’m happy to release it in.

I really want to make something of this game and at this stage, I’d like to have at least 2 maps ready to go with a rotation system in place. Get the upgrade system sorted and ideally some custom UI for the Store and Upgrade bench. So right now I don’t have a date in mind, but I’ll keep you posted.
