Today is the day that Monopoly Star Wars: Heroes vs Villains (MSW) got its full reveal following its announcement back in March. Not only did we get one trailer, we got two! A cinematic world premiere trailer and a gameplay trailer that focused a lot more on explaining the nuances of the game.

Character Roster

MSW features a vast array of characters, 28 to be precise, spanning the Star Wars saga with surprise villains like Dedra Meero, Fennec Shand and Reva, AKA The Third Sister. We’ve also got heroes such as Bo Katan, Rose Tico and Ahsoka! With 28 characters, there are 14 for the light side and 14 for the dark side. The game features 14 unique hero abilities, likely meaning that each hero has the same ability as someone on the villains side. These abilities can impact gameply, whether that’s in dice battles or other gameplay elements.

The Map

On the Monopoly board itself there are 22 iconic locations from franchise that bring up 3D diorama sets in the middle of the board, something I’m a big fan of already. Each location can be purchased by landing on them, if owned though, it’ll go down to a fight…with dice! (#DICEplz?)

Just like classic Star Wars Monopoly boards there are planetary breakdowns. For example, the end of the board features two locations from Coruscant, those being the Jedi Temple and the Senate Building. Dagobah also features at the start of the board with Yoda’s “Hermit’s Hut” and the Cave of Evil. Other planets on the board include Tatooine, Hoth, Mustafar, Endor, Ahch-To and Naboo.

Gameplay

Besides the concept of dice battles and revealing a couple of the hero abilities, I don’t feel as though these trailers told us too much else about how the game works, but I’m definitely excited to learn more about it. I know I need to think strategically in my choices, so I’m excited to see what team builds work best. I’ll dive into the gameplay side more in the build up to launch!

Cosmetics

Cosmetics will be playing a part in MSW thanks to missions. These missions will unlock skins for our 28 heroes and likely our dice as well. I’m a huge cosmetics fan in Star Wars games, so I’m excited to take on these missions and unlock new skins! Below are some examples from the recent trailer!

Monopoly Star Wars: Heroes vs Villains is set for release on June 11th 2026 for Xbox Series S/X, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch 1/2 and PC. Will you be getting the game?
