April 29th sees the official reveal of Monopoly Star Wars: Heroes Versus Villains. Initially announced on March 17th, Monopoly Star Wars: Heroes Versus Villains sees players take on a Star Wars, team-based twist to the classic Monopoly game. It’s said that the game will offer “reimagined gameplay with cinematic moments, themed spaces, and dynamic elements so that no two matches are the same“.

They aim to do this by providing players a large roster, currently looking to be 28 characters big, all of whom have unique hero abilities. New GO events will feature in this game that can bring in game-altering twists. These combined with the teamplay should provide us with some interesting games.

I’ve not played the modern Monopoly video game, so I don’t really know what to expect from this regarding how the teamplay works, how abilities come into it, GO events and so on. What I do know however, is that the game is getting revealed next week by Ubisoft on Wednesday April 29th and released on June 11th for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch & PC for £25/$30.

What to expect next week

With next week’s reveal I’m very much expecting to see a trailer and blog post that explains all these new features and how they work. Right now I have no idea, so hopefully next week will clear things up massively.

The trailer will no doubt showcase the Monopoly board, switching between the differents that appear in the centre. As well as a multitude of different heroes using their abilities, dice being rolled and GO events taking place.

I’m actually quietly excited for this game. We haven’t had a casual Star Wars party game in a very long time and I think there’s definitely room for these games to exist alongside the more series ones like the upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Star Wars: Zero Company.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!
